Vietnam’s Museum of Ethnology has over 15,000 artefacts including photographs and other multi-media doccuments such as audiotapes. The indoor exhibition area can be viewed via a virtual tour which includes the Ethnic Groups of Viet, Muong, Tho, Chut, Tav, Thai, Ka Dai, H’Mong-Dao, Tang, San Dui, Ngai, Mon-Khmer, Nam-Dao, Cham, Hoa and Khmer. There are also antiques on display alongside everyday objects such as pipes, baskets and knives.

The outdoor exhibition presents a range of traditional houses. That is including a Tay wooden stilt house and house of Vietnamese (also known as Kinh or Viet) complete with indigenous foliage. Each of them separates by a small stream and reacheable via small bridges. One of the main features of the Vietnam Ethnology Museum is to present the artefacts in a simple manner. So that tourists can enjoy them without being overwhelmed by detail. The museum is also suitable for children. And all of introduction and display signs throughout have been translated into French and English.
How to Get There and What is the Best Way to Visit?
The best way is to get a taxi to the museum. Which usually take about 20 minutes. Or alternatively take the number 14 Public Bus from Dinh Tien Hoang Street (just north of the Hoan Kiem Lake) to the Nghia Tan stop. And then walk two blocks to get to Ethnology Musseum.
